Installation of Models Page 3.
Adding your (2nd, 3rd, 4th etc...etc...) own/user static (not animated) models to Rule the Rail!
IMPORTANT!
You cannot add your own models to the unregistered free version.
OK then, if you followed the instructions on the 1st & 2nd page's you will have 45 new model's installed and looking good :)
This time we need to download a model that has a lot more to the installation,
for this demonstration we will use Dave's Shop, only 1 model to this but 2 folder's.

Recap.
Save the zip
/rar file somewhere on your hard drive,
the Desktop is a good place to start with, you can move it later.
OK we have the zip/rar. . . file we need to open it to get at the files in-side, first create a new folder on the desktop called "Same as the zip/rar file" then drag & drop the zip file in to the new folder, this is to stop all the files scattering all over the desktop when you unpack it.
Windows XP, Vista & 7 have in-built programs for extracting the files, if they don't work you will need to get and install a zip program.
Next open the zip file by single/double clicking on it and save/extract the files to the same folder & close the zip program.
Now you will see in the folder 7 files/folders.
Lets go through them one at a time.
This one we have just done/opened, used.
As it says "Were to put stuff"
This is a simple instruction sheet on how to install the models.
Most modellers will include some form of instructions or they will be posted on the littlevilledepot web site.
These images (Not the folders) can be copied & pasted or drag & droped to there respective folders in the program ie; =
" Program Files\BrainBombers\Rule the Rail!\Scenes\001haz "
&
" Program Files\BrainBombers\Rule the Rail!\Scenes\gyar "
This file can be copied & pasted or drag & droped to =
" Program Files\BrainBombers\Rule the Rail!\Scenes\xfiles "
This file is the model, be it in code,
"The modeler stores the information into a file and the application parses the file to construct the scene using device resources."
No copying & pasting or dragging & dropping of this file, we need to edit the usr.xli file in the RtR folder.
So we need to open the "2" usr.xli files, the one in Rule the Rail! & the one thats in the Shop folder. (Use Notepad or Wordpad Only) ![]()
Then Info_ Cut or Copy & PastYou can move or copy information between documents in different programs by cut / copy and paste editing.
1. Open the document containing the information you wish to copy.
Highlight the information and click the right mouse button to bring up the shortcut menu.
Select the "copy" option.
2. Place your cursor in the text box of the form you are copying the information to and click the right mouse button to bring up the shortcut menu.
Select "paste". _Info the new entry into the usr.XLI file from the Rule The Rail! folder & alter the number (Second line) from 1 to 2 & Save the file, thats it for this bit.
Notice the second line in this file (2) Thats because there are now 2 entrys in this .XLI file.
pic usr.XLI.
This file is read by the RtR program on loading, as well as others.
Lets look at the .XLI make-up,![]()
Yet again no copying & pasting or dragging & dropping of this file, we need to edit the ltex file in the RtR folder.
just copy the information that is in this file into any of the ltex files in the RtR program.
This file contains all the images that i/we wish to light up when you select the night mode, for this model it would be "0331cloth.dds"
There you are,
you should have your new model installed in your Rule The Rail! Program.
I Like to think i'm following the KISS principle when i'm writing these out.
" Keep It Short and Simple ". Not the other one.
